LVMH and Association de la Vallée de la Millière open the first campus dedicated to environmental training for Group employees

In line with its “LIFE 360” environmental strategy, the Group is proud to open the first training campus of its “LIFE ACADEMY” on the site of Association de la Vallée de la Millière, founded by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. This strategic partnership, which includes funding to renovate the buildings and help to rewild the site, contributes to the Group’s goal of training 100% of its employees in environmental issues by 2026.

With the inauguration of La Millière, a true haven of biodiversity dedicated to education and located near Paris, LVMH accelerates its ambition to train all its employees on the challenges of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. This unique place supports the Group’s primary mission: providing its employees with the tools they need to drive change within their respective fields.

La Millière will also serve to raise awareness among a broader audience, including schools, associations, and NGOs. By opening this place, LVMH reaffirms its commitment to sharing its knowledge and expertise with a wider community. This commitment is an integral part of the Group’s “Joining forces” philosophy, which promotes open and inclusive collaboration with all stakeholders. The transmission of environmental knowledge is a key element in amplifying the collective impact of our actions and building a sustainable future.

With the support of LVMH, the site, classified as a Natural Zone of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest (ZNIEFF), has benefited from responsible renovation work, using ecological materials such as wood wool and second-hand furniture Its 30 hectares of protected, freely evolving wilderness, along with its educational garden inspired by permaculture and supported by regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, and sustainable farming practices, offer exclusive facilities within a setting conducive to collaborative learning, immersion and innovation.

At LVMH, we are convinced that change starts from within. Our employees are at the heart of this transformation. As ambassadors of our environmental strategy, their training is essential to meet the challenges of sustainable development. The ‘LIFE ACADEMY’ was created with this in mind, to provide employees with the tools and skills they need to drive this change in the projects they carry out on a daily basis,” explains Hélène Valade, Environmental Development Director at LVMH.

The employee training program is built around two complementary pillars: “The Essentials” provides a comprehensive overview of environmental fundamentals, and “The Expertise” offers specialized training on topics such as eco-design, responsible sourcing and climate action. These courses are open to all Group employees, either in person at the La Millière site or remotely through the e-learning modules currently being rolled out worldwide, wherever the Group operates.

This educational ambition reflects the ongoing commitments of the Group and its Maisons, in particular Guerlain, which supports La Millière’s “Jardin des Partages” project, which aims to reconcile abundant, diversified production with lush, omnipresent biodiversity.

Training sessions offer participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in hands-on workshops, real-life case simulations and immersive games. Complemented by team building, seminars and biodiversity awareness workshops, this tailor-made approach ensures that training courses are adapted to the specific needs of the Group’s various professions, including creatives, architects, logistics coordinators and IT professionals.

In 2023, the Group and its Maisons stepped up their efforts in terms of environmental awareness and training, delivering more than 68,000 hours of training to employees worldwide (double that of the previous year), including:

  • Parfums Christian Dior, which trained over 3,000 employees in France via The Climate Fresk workshops, representing almost 90% of its workforce.
  • Berluti, which provided nearly 1,000 hours of training worldwide for its creative teams in leather/textile certification and sustainable design.
  • Moët Hennessy, which trained over 900 employees worldwide in sustainable development issues.
