Dior haute couture Fall-Winter 2024: a contemporary ode to goddesses of antiquity

Dior Artistic Director for Women’s Collections Maria Grazia Chiuri presented a haute couture collection where the dress merges with the body. The set by artist Marta Roberti – inspired by her immersion in the iconographies of goddesses – transforms the catwalk into an art gallery, a perfect backdrop for the designer’s ode to the classic aesthetic of antiquity.
An ideal of perfected refinement is found for sartorial elements that can be termed archetypal including the classical Roman toga referenced in various forms throughout the collection, which was dominated by a light-toned palette of white, beige, silver and pale gold. Symbolism is also expressed in details, including pearls, an evocation of purity, adorning numerous embroideries, intertwined with silver threads. The cape, evocative of a holy garment, elevates different outfits. Wool and cashmere hold a key place in the interplay of textures.
The collection illustrates the strength and fragility of femininity. Recalling the past, it offers a guide towards a vision of the future endowed with sensitivity and essential attention to detail.
