Louis Vuitton Travel Book collection grows with new destinations Amsterdam and Indonesia
Amsterdam and Indonesia are the latest destinations featured in the Louis Vuitton Travel Book collection.
Introduced in 2010, the Travel Book collection invites artists from across the globe to explore places they have never before visited in their illustrations, proposing fresh and original takes on exceptional destinations.
Through their travel sketchbooks, the artists share their personal interpretations of the world, transforming the journey into a work of art. This year, the German illustrator known as ATAK invites us on a deep dive into lush and intense Indonesia, while French illustrator Laurent Cilluffo explores the urban metrics of Amsterdam with his sleek and uncluttered style.
Éditions Louis Vuitton hosted an exhibition of original illustrations taken from the travel sketchbooks of the German and French artists during the second annual Festival du Dessin in Arles last April 20 to May 19. The exhibition also featured illustrations by Thomas Ott from his “Route 66” Travel Book, published in 2018.
Louis Vuitton has long made travel an art, and celebrated art as a vital form of travel, nurturing this invaluable dialogue through the Maison’s collection of sketchbooks.
