Lexus RZ, Winner of the 2023 Green Car Award in France

The Lexus RZ 450e SUV was awarded the Gold Prize for the 2023 Green Car of the Year in France. The award judges, the editorial team of the leading magazine Auto Moto, recognized the RZ as “the best decarbonized car of the year”. Among the criteria applied, maintenance costs, functionality, and driving pleasure stood out.

The RZ 450e is the first Lexus model specifically developed as a fully electric vehicle. Its aim is not only to offer emission-free driving but also to leverage the full potential of electric vehicles to reinvent the driving experience, in line with the Lexus Electrified philosophy.

The RZ is the first model to incorporate Lexus's new electric axle –e-Axle–. These axles, installed both at the front and rear, are combined with the DIRECT4 all-wheel drive control system. This exclusive Lexus technology automatically adjusts the distribution of traction force between front and rear, depending on driving conditions, which also helps to improve energy efficiency. In addition to the advantages of the DIRECT4 system, the RZ’s specific electric vehicle platform offers optimal maneuverability and responsiveness, thanks to its excellent rigidity, low center of gravity, and long wheelbase. A powerful lithium-ion battery has also been integrated into the chassis, under the cabin floor.

The RZ’s fully electric system and its specific platform offer more freedom of design. The vehicle stands out for its distinctive exterior design, while the interior is a clear and open space, at the same time simple and luxurious, that expresses Lexus's Omotenashi hospitality and Takumi craftsmanship.
