LUXONOMY Report. Wellness, Biohacking and Longevity Tourism: The New Engine of Global Luxury (2025–2040)

Luxury tourism is undergoing an unprecedented transformation: from material ostentation to transformational luxury. In the 21st century, the true currency of the elite is no longer yachts or mansions, but something far more scarce and valuable: time to enjoy life in full health. This report reveals how high-end wellness, biohacking, and longevity have become the most dynamic driver of global luxury tourism. With a market projected to grow from €651 billion in 2023 to over €1.3 trillion by 2028, and longevity industry projections exceeding €27 trillion by 2040, this represents the greatest area of opportunity for the luxury sector.

The leading hubs are clearly defined: Switzerland with its legendary rejuvenation clinics; Dubai as a futuristic hub; Thailand with its blend of tradition and science; Spain leveraging the Mediterranean lifestyle as a national brand; and the United States offering express programmes for executives and entrepreneurs.

Today’s high-end traveller isn’t seeking just a spa getaway – they are after a full life reset. That means cell therapies, cryotherapy, neurofeedback, genomic diets, and aesthetic rejuvenation programmes. From ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) and celebrities to high-net-worth women aged 45–70, this segment represents the most valuable traveller on the planet, with an average spend of €30,000–€70,000 per trip and exceptionally high repeat rates.

The economic impact is enormous: each euro spent on a longevity programme generates an additional €2–€3 in local economies, stimulating hospitality, gastronomy, real estate, and specialised employment.

The strategic opportunities are numerous:

Investors: Longevity clinics, laboratories, and longevity-focused residential communities.

Luxury brands: Co-creation of exclusive experiences tied to youth and vitality.

Hospitality: Integration of science within premium resorts.

Governments: Attracting longevity tourism as a national strategy.

The report concludes with a vision towards 2040: three scenarios (optimistic, moderate, and pessimistic) in which the luxury of the future will be measured not by objects, but by additional healthy years of life.
